How To Be An Entrepreneur Without Money

With unemployment rates at an all time high many people might be wondering how to be an entrepreneur without money. No matter what the actual unemployment rate is, if you are out of work and struggling to get by, it is stressful!

Let’s get real here, having an income matters. Even if you are living a very simple lifestyle, you still have to have the necessities.

So what can you do when you’re out of work and having trouble finding a job? Find a need and fill it!

You may be wondering how you can do that. Let me give you an example.

A lady I knew several years ago had just moved to our neighborhood. She hadn’t been in the country very long and didn’t know the language fluently.

She applied for many, many jobs, but couldn’t seem to find anyone who was hiring. This was something she hadn’t counted on.

She had some training, but needed to update her skills. She had begun classes, but couldn’t seem to find work. And things got really tight financially. So tight it got really scary.

So she decided to figure out how to be an entrepreneur without money. With only a tiny amount of cash, she knew she had to do something out pretty quick.

Being new in town, and fairly new to the country she had a lot of things to overcome. She had no money, no car, no materials to market her business, no real credibility, and no plan. Sounds pretty tough doesn’t it?

But you know what, she made it work. She began to think of what skills she had. Many people had commented that she was very good at cleaning house. And they were right; she really was a great housekeeper.

Another thing she knew was that a lot of people are unhappy with their housecleaning service. So even though she had no money and no car, she thought this might be an opportunity for her to have her own business and be able to pay her bills.

She wasn’t especially excited about owning a residential cleaning service, but it was something she was good at. She needed some money coming in pretty badly, so she decided to go for it.

My friend decided to price her services a little lower than the other cleaning companies because she would use the clients cleaning supplies and vacuum.

She called to find out what it would cost for a business license and to get bonded. Then, she used a friend’s computer to make up a flyer and printed off a copy. Next, she went to the library and made a hundred or so copies of the flyer.

She walked around the neighborhood, delivering the flyers. By targeting her immediate area, she could walk to her client’s homes. Once she got her first client, she paid her fees for the business license and to get bonded.

From the flyers she got 4 regular customers. Within a couple of months she had 12 clients just from word-of-mouth recommendations. This was the perfect amount for her. Over the next several months she got many more referrals, which she had to turn down because she needed time to study!

She had enough money coming in to live a simple life and was able to finish her classes and move forward with life in a new country. It is possible to learn how to be an entrepreneur without money.

So you see, getting your own business started doesn’t have to be rocket science. Take a look at yourself and write a list of things you are good at, maybe there is some talent that you have that could be a viable business.

There are also businesses you can start up for very low costs. With a little research you should be able to find something that is a great fit for you. That’s what I did.

Does Everyone Need A Will?

does everyone need a will
What are your thoughts? Does everyone need a will or not? There is an old saying you might have heard that ‘a will speaks for you after your death’. I bet you have heard it before.

If you own property at all, you should probably have a will. What can a will do for you? It will make sure that your wishes are carried out. If you want certain items to go to a particular person or persons it may not happen unless you have it in writing.

You can also designate who is to be the will's executor, who will care for your children, and what arrangements you want to be made for your pets.

If you die without a will, you are said to have died intestate. The laws of whatever state you live in will then decide what happens to your possessions, with no regard to what you wanted. A will is the only way to assure your wishes are carried out.

If you are in a situation where you have a domestic partner they may lose their home and have very little to live on if you die intestate. Which is the furthest thing from your mind.

What about your minor children? Do you really want them to become wards of the state? Wouldn’t it be better to choose who is going to finish raising them?

When you prepare a will, you can also name someone to be the executor of the will. This person will wind up your affairs after you are gone, pay any outstanding bills, collect any monies owed you, and distribute your possessions according to your wishes. I don’t know about you, but that sounds much better than letting the state decide.

So, does everyone need a will? I would think so. I may not leave this world with a lot, but I want to be sure it goes where I want it to instead of letting the state have it.

Identity Theft Quiz

Identity Theft Quiz

Are you on the right track or at risk for identity theft? Keep track of your points as you take this identity theft quiz to find out how you rate.

1. When you pay a bill, where do you mail the check from?
[ ] my home mail box  1 point
[ ] drop it in the box at the post office 0 points
[ ] checks? I never write them. I pay everything online through secure connections.  0 points

*The check amount and/or recipients name can be pretty easily changed on a check. Mailbox theft is rampant, so any time you need to mail a check you should take it to the post office.

2. Where do you keep your social security card?
[ ] in my wallet/purse of course!  1 point
[ ] someplace safe. Never carry it unless I need it for an employer, then I put it right back in its place.  0 points

*If a thief gets your social security number they can find out all kinds of information about you and open credit accounts in your name. You should always keep it, and any documents containing your social security number in a safe place.

3. Do your passwords all have at least one number, letter, and special character?
[ ] yes   0 points
[ ] no    1 point

*Let’s face it, we need passwords for almost everything these days. Remembering all of them can be a bit of a hassle. Do you consistently use your birthdate, mother’s maiden name, or something equally simple? It does make it easier for you, but it makes it easy for an identity thief too.

4. Have you ever clicked on a link sent to you in an unsolicited email or text message?
[ ] Yes   1 point
[ ] No    0 points

*Identity thieves keep up with technology. First it was tricking you through phone calls, then they moved to email, now it’s through text messages. Play it safe and never click on these types of links, even if they look like the real deal. Criminals can use fake email addresses and make web pages that mirror the real ones.

5. Do you monitor your credit card bills and bank statements each month and get a copy of your credit report at least once a year?
[ ] Yes   0 points
[ ] No    1 point

*Catching a thief early on is going to save you a lot of hassle in the long run. Monitor you accounts and make sure you can account for each expenditure. If you see something that looks strange, contact your financial institution right away. The same thing goes for your credit report. Check it at least once a year to be sure everything is accurate and up to date and that there are no debts listed you can’t account for.

Lets see how you scored:

0 points – Congratulations! You are doing a great job of keeping your important information secure.

1-2 points – You are doing pretty well, but there is room for improvement. Implement the suggestions to do even better.

3-5 points – You are taking a lot of risks with your personal information and could be a prime candidate for identity theft.

I Hate My Job And Want To Quit!

If you find yourself saying ‘I hate my job and want to quit!’ more and more often, maybe it’s time to take a look at what you’re doing and why it makes you so unhappy.

Staying at a job you hate is tough, but there are things you have to consider before you pull the plug.

You need to make sure that you and your family will be able to survive if it takes a while to get a new job. It’s always best to have a new job lined up before you quit the old one.

Wouldn’t you like to be saying, ‘I love my job’, instead of ‘I hate my job and want to quit’? Let’s take a look at your situation and see if the time is right for you to quit your job or not.

There are a lot of reasons that people hate their jobs. Maybe you have a boss that’s an idiot. Is it that you just really detest what you do at work?

Is getting up early and working late all the time dragging you down? Do you really have no good time to take a vacation, or is it that you can only arrange time off when the kids are in school?

You need to really look at the situation and see what it is that makes you hate your job. Try making a list of what you don’t like. Is there anything you can do to change any of them?

Chances are you won’t be able to change much, if any, of the issues you have, but you don’t know until you try. If a few changes would make life more tolerable at work, who knows, the boss might be willing to work with you.

If there really isn’t any way to change things and you really hate your job, quitting could be your only option.

Is your job negatively affecting your life? Do you spend all your time off thinking about how much you hate your job? Is it coming between you and your loved ones? Is it making you just hate your life?

If the issues are that severe, you may really want to think about doing something different. Something you would actually enjoy doing.

Unfortunately most of us can’t just decide to quit our jobs and go do what we want. Careful planning has to go into these decisions or we could just make everything worse.

Do you have enough money set aside to pay household expenses until you find a new job? If you don’t have a monthly budget, you should make one and start living by it before you quit your current job.

Cut out any unnecessary expenses and save, save, save. It would be terrible to quit too soon and then find yourself in a position where you can’t pay to live.

You can start looking for a job better suited to you while you still have your current job. Update your resume and start sending it out. It would be better to have a job lined up before you quit your job. Who wants to end up broke and homeless?

You can say, ‘I hate my job and want to quit’ all you want, but if you aren’t ready to do so, you are headed for trouble.

Sometimes people just hate their jobs because they don’t like to work for someone else. They dream of having a business of their own where they call the shots.

Many people with an entrepreneurial spirit make their living this way. If you have what it takes, this might be a good option for you.
